Disney Vacation Club Restores 100% Borrowing Policy For Next Use Year

Disney Vacation Club has announced that it will be restoring DVC members’ ability to borrow 100% of their vacation points from their next use year. This means that members will be able to borrow the full amount of next year’s points to make reservations in their current use year.

Disney Vacation Club owners were previously restricted to borrowing up to 50% of their points in the following year, due to the coronavirus pandemic’s closure of many DVC resorts in April of 2020.

A backlog of vacation points built up while the Disney Vacation Club resorts were closed, and cancelations forced many members to bank points that would have normally been traveled with. These factors led Disney to instate the 50 percent borrowing limit that has been in place since mid-2020.

The reasoning for this restriction was to help manage the built-up points that could be used in the DVC system at any one time and thus minimize DVC members’ concerns about reservation availability. By reducing DVC members’ ability to borrow points, this restriction worked to give priority to members with banked points and current use year points.
