Holding account points are points returned to an owner after canceling a confirmed reservation very close to the check-in date—usually within 60 days. These points are severely restricted as a penalty: they cannot be banked to a future year and can typically only be used to book new reservations within a short, 60-day booking window before they expire at the end of the year.
