Tenancy-in-Common is the default legal ownership structure for multiple, unrelated buyers holding title to a single property. Each tenant owns a distinct, fractional interest in the asset, which is presumed equal unless specified otherwise. Crucially, there is no automatic right of survivorship; if an owner passes away, their share does not go to the other co-owners, but instead passes to their designated heirs through their will.
