Vistana Reservations Cancellation Policy: Westin & Sheraton Resorts

If you are looking to make a reservation at one of the Vistana Signature Network resorts, it is important to be aware of the cancellation policy. This policy applies to both the Westin and Sheraton properties within the Vistana Signature Network of resorts. In this article, we will go over the details of the Vistana Reservations Cancellation Policy so that you can make an informed decision about your travel plans, and know what to expect should your travel plans change.

Vistana Cancellation Policy For Reservations

When making a reservation at a Vistana Signature Network resort, it is important to be aware of the cancellation policy. The cancellation fees and restrictions placed on returned StarOptions are based on when the cancellation is made in relation to the check-in date of the reservation.

12 Months To 61 Days Prior To Arrival

The Vistana Reservations Cancellation Policy states that reservations must be cancelled anywhere from 12 months prior to check-in to 61 days prior to check-in in order to avoid being charged a fee, and avoid the returned StarOptions being restricted. The StarOptions that are returned to you from the cancellation must be used before the end of the current Use Year to avoid expiration. Also, Home Resort Reservation Rights will not be restored, which means you will need to book a reservation with a check-in date 8 months or less in advance using the returned StarOptions.

60 Days To 8 Days Prior To Arrival

If your cancellation takes place 60 days to 8 days prior to check-in, you will be charged a $50 cancellation fee, and the StarOptions that are returned to you from the cancellation will be restricted. We will cover in greater detail later in the article exactly what that means for you.

7 Days To 2 Days Prior To Arrival

If your cancellation takes place 7 days to 2 days prior to check-in, you will be charged a $75 cancellation fee, and the StarOptions that are returned to you from the cancellation will be restricted.

Reservations Made With Check-In Date For Today Or Tomorrow

If you make a reservation with a check-in date of the current day, or the following day, and cancel that reservation prior to checking in, there are no cancellation fees charged, and no restrictions placed on the returned StarOptions. If you do not cancel this last-minute reservation before check-in, you would stand to lose all StarOptions associated with the reservation.

What Are Restricted StarOptions?

Restricted StarOptions are very similar to the holding account model that is used in Marriott Vacation Club, or Disney Vacation Club. This simply means the Restricted StarOptions that are returned to you must be used to reserve another vacation that has a check-in date 60 days or less in advance. Also, restricted StarOptions are not available to be banked into a future Use Year, converted to Marriott Bonvoy points, or deposited with Interval International.

Should you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, we recommend doing so as soon as possible to avoid being charged a fee or having restrictions placed on the returned StarOptions.
