Week 53

« Back to Glossary Index

Because a standard calendar year consists of 365 days (or 366 in leap years), it does not divide perfectly into 52 seven-day weeks. Consequently, every five to six years, the calendar rolls over to create a “Week 53.” Depending on the specific resort’s Home Owners Association bylaws, the usage rights for Week 53 may be reserved exclusively for the developer, rented out to cover general resort operating expenses, or offered as a bonus to the owners who hold the deed to Week 52.
