Abound Club Point Usage Chart: How To Use Expiring Points, Holding & More

 

Throughout the course of using a points-based Marriott Vacation Club ownership, you may encounter a handful of different types of points that can be held within your account. In this article, we will help you understand what each type of point is, and what each type can be used for.

Travel Prior To Point Expiration & Current / Future Use Year Points

When using Abound Club Points to book a reservation, booking windows will differ based on your membership level.

End of Use Year Expiring Points

Your banking deadline will depend on your membership level. Once you have reached the end of your current Use Year, the ability to bank your points will not be available.

Expiring Banked Points

The period that points can be used for after being banked, depends on your membership level. If you have banked points, you will need to use them within the time period determined by your membership level, or they will expire.

Holding Account Points

Vacation Points in your Holding Account will be valid to book another reservation with, until the end of your Use Year, after which they will expire. You can use them the same as normal Vacation Points, except that reservations using Vacation Points that are in a holding account must be made within 60 or fewer days before the new Check-In date. Also, you won’t be able to bank or borrow any vacation points that are kept in a Holding Account.

Plus Points

Depending on the promotions and sale incentives happening at the time, sometimes new purchases that are bought directly from Marriott, usually a minimum of 2,500 Vacation Club Points, the buyer can receive PlusPoints as a special purchase incentive. PlusPoints may be redeemed for nights at any available Marriott Vacation Club resort or property, but they can not be banked, transferred, or converted to Bonvoy Points.
