Hilton Grand Vacations Club Cancellation Policy For Reservations

Hilton Grand Vacations Club Cancellation Policy For Reservations

As much as owners look forward to booking their vacations with Hilton Grand Vacations Club, there are always instances where you may need to cancel your reservation. Understanding Hilton Grand Vacations Club’s cancellation policy for reservations, and when is the best time to cancel an upcoming reservation, will offer a more streamlined and stress free process.

HGVC Cancellation Policy

Hilton Grand Vacations Club’s main goal is to keep occupancy rates as high as possible, which in turn enables the lowest maintenance costs possible for all HGVC owners. Due to the fact that owners tend to book their vacation months in advance in many cases, it can be increasingly more difficult for HGVC to book a vacant unit that is the result of a cancellation, the closer it is to the original check-in date. Therefore, the closer to the check-in date an owner needs to cancel a reservation, the more penalties owners can stand to face.

The timeline for HGVC’s cancellation policy is as follows:

Open Season & RCI Reservations

It is important to note that certain types of reservations, such as Open Season and some RCI reservations, are made within the 31 days timeframe. Therefore these reservations cannot be cancelled without losing some percentage of the currency that was paid, whether that be points or cash.

If you’d like to learn more about cancellation of RCI reservations you can read our article on the subject here: Trading Hilton Grand Vacations ClubPoints With RCI: How It Works.

Hilton Grand Vacations Club Reservation Travel Insurance

Hilton does offer travel insurance that costs $79 (as of 2022) at the time of booking your reservation. This allows owners to cancel their reservation without any penalties up to the night before the previously booked check-in date. Travel insurance must be purchased at the time of booking the reservation, but can be a great option for avoiding penalties when additional flexibility is needed.
